At Western Woods, we strive to deliver lumber products that offer industry-leading durability, safety, and performance. We're keenly aware that more and more people are building into the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) and the consequences that come with it. We take wildfires seriously, and for us, it's personal. Our team has experienced first-hand the effects of wildfires on our community. In response, our team has ambitiously pursued methods to produce lumber that offers increased survivability in environmental events such as wildfires. Whether your project is a home, a commercial structure, or a simple outbuilding, every moment your structure withstands a wildfire matters.

With that in mind, our team is proud to announce that  our Premium Designs products* have been produced to comply with the rigorous standards outlined in the WUI Products Handbook. Published by the California State Fire Marshal (SFM) as a supplemental part of the California Building Code (CBC)**, the WUI Products Handbook outlines all of the products that have been reviewed by the SFM Staff and had their compliance verified based upon a thorough analysis of product performance test results and product reliability features. Every WUI-verified product is listed, and a listing number is then attached to the product.

For products to be used in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI), every product must comply with rigorous standards to ensure adequate levels of performance.

GET IN THE KNOW

In an effort to provide the home owners, industries, designers, local fire and building officials a list of “compliance WUI products”, the State Fire Marshal published the “WUI Products Handbook”. All products published in this handbook have been reviewed and their compliance verified in accordance with the new 2007 CBC by SFM staff. All products published in this book are “approved” by the SFM. They are not “Listed” unless a SFM Listing number is attached.
