Builders Seeing High ROI from Cedar

716roicedar

Cedar building materials are a hot topic right now. Home owners and builders are finding a high Return On Investment (ROI) when incorporating this beautiful yet durable wood in their projects.

Western Red Cedar is naturally resistant to rot, decay and insect attacks, which means it will last longer and require less maintenance. The rich, tonal properties of the wood are being used to create beautiful outdoor living spaces as well as inspiring innovative interior accents. It is very easy to work with because it contains no pitch or resin, which means it accepts a wide array of stain and paint treatments. Making this a perfect product to produce special orders using our state of the art Stain line flooding application for full coverage.

Cedar makes sense. Woods with low density, such as cedar, have the highest thermal insulating value. The better the thermal insulators, the more they help to keep buildings cool in the summer and reduce heating costs in the winter. Dense wood also has higher ability to dampen vibrations giving it more sound damping capacity than most structural materials. The wood density of cedar also plays a part in safety concerns. Due to its high density cedar is considered to have a Class B flame spread rating and a smoke development rating of 125.

Unlike other building materials, Western Red Cedar actually removes greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere. Cedar is renewable (it is sourced from the most sustainably managed forests in the world) and biodegradable, unlike brick and cement.

Industry Jargon Goes Mainstream

716stainline

A rise in trends on bringing wood elements to interiors can be seen on design and remodeling television shows and shared across social media sites. Shiplap, tongue and groove, and bevel are no longer lumber industry specific jargon. Home exteriors, fireplace build outs, accent walls and even full bathrooms are being created, or recreated, using these familiar board pattern terms. Luckily, the Western Woods Premium Designs product line produces these standard patterns and trims to meet the demands of the current trends in architectural and interior design as well as timeless standard building materials.

With our modern facility we can provide made to order standard and specialty patterns in appearance or premium grade options. This allows us to react quickly to you and your customers’ needs without costly delays on specialty materials.

Our product does not stop at high quality raw materials. We are proud to say we offer the option of our Premium Design line for a machine finished primed product with Sherwin-Williams green friendly acrylic latex resin primer. The Sherwin-Williams Company is an industry Leader in Product Development and Green Technology. This allows us to back our product with a lifetime warranty*.

Blurring the Lines of Indoor and Out

The first day of summer was June 20th, which means outdoor living and entertaining is on everyone’s mind. Homeowners are looking to integrate the indoor with the outdoor by creating multi-level and multi-functional living spaces.

Builders and suppliers have more options than ever to provide to their customers. The ease of maintenance and long lasting durability of composite decking makes this number one on customer’s wish lists.

New home builds and large remodel projects have shifted away from a distinct separation between the indoor and outdoor spaces, and now feature a more fluid and undefined separation between the two areas. There is even an interesting shift in using different areas of a deck for personalized purposes such as cooking, entertaining, sitting around a fire, relaxing in a hot tub, a children’s play area, or meditation.

Western Woods extensive line of beautiful Fiberon composite decking products have eliminated the fading, warping, rotting and splintering issues found with regular wood decking, not to mention the need to ever reseal, re-stain or paint it.

Fiberon composite decking boards reflect warm tones and grain patterns found in genuine hardwoods. They have done this by developing the first multi-chromatic and embossed decking boards, and the industry's first stain and fade warranty for capped composites. Their innovative hidden fastener system only adds to the esthetics of this gorgeous product.

They have thought of everything to integrate this decking system into the low maintenance homeowners dream. There are railing, lighting, fasteners and fencing to create a complete outdoor oasis.

Need to feel even better about this product? Eco-Friendly Fiberon products are made from recycled materials!

Now through July 30th we are offering an incentive for Fiberon decking sales. See the flyer below for details. Then, take a moment to check out all the decking lines and color options available.
